The Grass is Always Greener

I learned a valuable lesson this week with the help of my preteen, a lawn mower and Adam Levine. Sometimes the grass is not always greener….in fact grass of any shade, I discovered, is barbaric, soul crushing and humbling.

  1. Ha Ha Ha, You are right on girl! God does have us just where he wants us. I used to go to work with a plan for what I wanted to accomplish each day. Then things would happen and I’d never get to my plan, I’d just get so frustrated. One day I changed my thinking and started saying, God this is my plan for today, but if there’s something else you need me to do, my plan can wait. That simple change in thinking saved me sooo much self imposed frustration. Now I just tell myself, God’s priorities come first and I keep my list of things to do for tomorrow.

  2. Beautiful Jenn! Love it! When we moved into the new home, I told my hubby “the outside yardwork is YOURS…ALL of it! And I will do MOST of the inside stuff.” Lol! This is our first summer of real yard work as our last home was a townhome and we had an HOA……which took care of EVERYTHING……So far, he has held up his end of the bargain on the grass portion. However, the flower portion…..not so much! I am not much of a flower person, because I can’t keep anything alive. HA! But my husband insisted, that at our new home, we must have flowers! So ……. 3 trips to Lowe’s later, after taking the first two sets of flowers (both different kinds) back to the store, I am happy to say our Petunia’s and Rainbow Bridge Flowers have lasted, stayed looking fresh and even GROW!! After the last trip, I said “God, you know I am not much of a flower person, but I also know that my husband has an even bigger, more important job than watering these flowers everyday……instead of giving him the grass AND the flowers……he would rather have that time with YOU in devotionals, and with our daughter in the evenings….therefore, I thank you for reminding me that I too (like a flower) can GROW into enjoying something more than I ever thought I would, and I thank you for your favor in encouraging me to remember how important they are to my husband and important it is that I remember to water them!”. 🙂
